ALMOST 400 DAIRY CATTLE SELL IN AUGUST OPENER
TWO COWS TOP AT £2800
The Borderway Sale Centre at Carlisle attracted a huge consignment of dairy cattle for their July Dairy Day sale. Almost 400 dairy cattle sold to buyers to a packed ringside of buyers from across Scotland and the north od England. Trade topped at £2,800 of two occasions with another 14 selling for £2700 with the overall average for 185 milkers coming to just over £2100.
Kirtlevale Klutch Flora was the first animal to sell for £2800, she was consigned by Richard Livgstone from near Gretna. She had recently calved in her second lactation and was sired by Redrock-View Klutch.
The Williamson family from Barrowmoor Farm near Appleby topped the British Friesian trade and also had the joint top price. They sold two tremendous British Friesian cows to average £2750 and topped at £2800 for a very special cow in her second lactation.
A super group of dry cows due in September were consigned by Sandersfarms from the Isle of Man. They topped at £2000 twice to average £1676.
The Bragg family from near Wigton dispersed their Pedigree Holstein youngstock following the successful sale of their farm. Sunnycroft Teal 120 topped the in calf heifers selling for £2100, she was sired by Claynook Casper and was due in December to Mr Stone Front Reeve Red sexed. Their bulling heifers were well grown and displayed a ton of potential and they topped at £1100 for Sunnycroft Blaze 57, a daughter of Progenesis Mission.
A nice group of Ayrshire in calf heifers were forward to average £1546 and topped at £2150 for Sandersfarms Daenerys Jewel. She was consigned by Sandersfarms from the Isle of Man and was due in September.
