Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their weekly sale of prime sheep on Tuesday night, when 3,435 sheep were forward consisting of 2,244 prime lambs, 1,191 cast sheep.
Topping the sale at £202 was a Texel lamb from Messrs Teward, New View Farm, Darlington.
Also selling from this home were Texel cross lambs to make £175.
Topping at 366.7p/kg were a pair of 39kg Beltex cross lambs which made £143 from Messrs Longstaff, Ascot House, Murton.
Messrs Pratt, Intake Bottom, Kirkby Stephen sold 50kg lambs to make £170 which were bought by J. Birkbeck on behalf of Steadmans Butchers, Kirkby Stephen.
Messrs Pedley, Prospect Farm Cottage, Waitby sold 46kg Beltex cross lambs to make £166. (360.9p/kg).
An overall sale average of 258.97p/kg was achieved for 2244 lambs.
32 pens of lambs sold between £140-£202.
Messrs Fairburn, Marriforth, Ripon sold a pen of eight 46kg lambs to make £148.50 with another pen of fifteen 44kg lambs selling for £143.50 also from this home.
Mule lambs topped at £116 for a pen of ten 49kg lambs from Messrs Burrow & Rutter Armstrong, Penrith.
Kilnstown Farms, Carlisle sold a pen of sixteen 46kg Mule lambs to make £115 (250p/kg).
Messrs Lawson, Hundith House, Wigton sold a pen of ten 45kg Mule lambs to make £110 (244.4p/kg)
Messrs Thompson, Newfield Farm, Sedbergh sold a pen of ten 40kg Texel cross lambs to make £132 (330p/kg)
Pens of good meated either well bred or heavier weighted lambs were a strong trade with buyers fiercely competing for these types!
The annual young handlers show was held which witnessed a fantastic turnout of youngsters displaying their handling skills with our judge Mr Peter Pratt, Kirkby Stephen having a difficult task.

Messrs Raine, Stanhope Gate Farm, Barnard Castle sold a pair of Texel cross ewes to make £160.
Texel rams topped at £160 for a pen of three from Messrs Fletcher and Coates, Short Thorns Farm, Weardale.
