Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 10th August Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly Calf Sale at Borderway with 370 calves forward.  All classes were dear from start to finish and well bid for.

£645 was the top price bull today was a suckler bred Charolais from Messrs Templeton, Glenlaugh.  Messrs Wilson, Broomberry made the trip from Ayr today topping the Limousin section at £560.  British Blues were up to £490 from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower and Messrs Irving, Brunt Hill was up to £490 also in the Blue Section.  £480 was achieved twice from Messrs Wilson, Broomberry for two powerful Angus, and Simmentals were up to £380 from C M Kirkpatrick.  Black and whites topped at £250 from D & M Irving, Brunthill with all black and white meeting a strong trade.

Messrs Templeton topped the Charolais heifer section again at £620 again for a superb Charolais calf.  Blue heifers were up to £465 twice from Messrs Hyslop, Meinside and Limousin topped at £510 from Messrs Wilson, Broomberry.  Angus were up to £385 from Messrs Johnston, Girthhead and Herefords topped at £305 on three occasions from Messrs Cooper, Demainholm Farm.

All classes of calves met with a competitive ringside of buyers from all over the County and more calves are required weekly to keep up with the ever growing demand.
