Borderway Sale of Store Cattle & Weanlings

STORE CATTLE – A good entry of store cattle this week were met with strong demand, a harvest day did nothing to deter the buyers with plenty ringside to bid at stock.

Leading the way at £1880 were regular vendors, Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth with their sale topper being a Limousin bullock.

Heifers sold to £1670 again for forward types for another  regular West Cumbria visitor, Messrs Johnston, Westray, Cockermouth who also lead the consignments at £1572.50.  To complete the hattrick Messrs Crichton, Rottington Hall, Whitehaven consigned the leading price native with Aberdeen Angus bullocks to £1680.

WEANED CALVES – A great entry of weaned calves were forward on a great sunny day at Borderway.  Messrs Oliver, Cawfields run of bulls topped at £1200 and £1170 for Limousin x.  Messrs Graham & Son, Barnglies run of Hereford x bulls topped at £1190 and £1180.  Messrs Scott, The Square sold a Hereford cow and Twin heifer calves for £1600.  Messrs Mattinson & Son, Burthwaite topped the Limousin x bullocks at £1050 x2.  East Haydon Farms great run of Limousin x heifers topped at £1010.
