Lazonby Store Lamb Sale

On Thursday 11^th August Harrison & Hetherington held its second sale of 1546 store lambs in Lazonby Mart. A simply outstanding trade was witnessed for all classes of sheep. A total sale average of £87.03 was achieved. This is simple out of this world considering 800 were greyfaced mules.

Topping the sale were a pen of 15 Texels from WE Lee, Cintley Farm selling for £111. This fantastic run of Texel mule lambs averaged £105. Suffolks topped at £95.50 from MA & J Corcker, Townhead selling a pen of 28. Mules were a simple outstanding trade throughout with a breed average of £84.01 and topping at £90 for a pen from first time vendor Chris Park, Burblethwaite. Anthony Wood, Moffat Cottage sold a pen of 14 to sell at £87.50. Chris Park also set the standards for hill lambs whosold a pen of 21 Swaledales for £54. A simply outstanding day was had at out second sale with all classes selling the standard for other centres.
