UNSTOPABULL APPLE TOPS AT 9K
The Boclair Bright Futures sale had been a much-anticipated event since it was first advertised this spring. This famous Holstein herd is owned by Brewster family who farm near Glasgow, they have been at the forefront of the black & white business for over 50 years and winning the Premier Herd title in 2017 was one of their greatest achievements. This special sale comprised all the best in calf, bulling and heifer calves from this prize winning herd and had all the top cow families represented.
Topping the sale at 9,000gns was Boclair USB Apple Red who was purchased by the Millar family from N. Ireland. This amazing Red & White heifers was sired by Unstopabull and was bred from a VG88 3 year old Jordy who’s full sister sold for 6,500gns in the June 2021 monthly sale. Her fourth dam was Apple!
The Apple family dominated the leading prices, a daughter of Koepon Shield Red bred from the 6,500gns full sister to the dam of the top seller sold for 4,000gns to the Donald family. She was an April born and was real head turner. The grand dam of this heifers is Boclair Barbwire Apple Red and Excellent cow that so far has bred an amazing group of daughters all classifying Very Good as heifers. Her daughter by Rubels Red sold for 5,400gns to the Awde family from Penrith.
Boclair Delta-Lambda Elegance 2 had style and class and is made to be great. She was sired by Lambda, from a Very Good 87 2 year old Doc dam, next two dams are both Excellent 95 points. The third dam was the winning Mature Cow from the 2016 National Holstein Show and the sixth dam is the All American Krull Broker Elegance EX96. She was purchased by the Smith family from near Lanark.
The Roxy family had dominated the leading prices in the Border & Lakeland Club sale that preceded the Boclair sale. Boclair Lambda Rae had a big time pedigree with 11 Excellent dams averaging almost 94 points. Her dam was an Excellent 93 Pesce Snowy daughter and her fifth dam was the All American winner Scientific Debutante Rae. She was due in April to Dynasty and sold for 4,200gns Mr Mackenzie from Ross Shire
