Kirkby Stephen Breeding Sheep Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd Kirkby Stephen held their annual Early Breeding Prize Show & Sale of Continental, Mule Ewes, Shearlings and Gimmer lambs.

Topping the female section at £340 was a Beltex cross shearling from CA&JG Skidmore, Needless Hall Farm, Bishop Auckland which went to RC Tiplady, Red House, Barnard Castle. With this home also selling Beltex cross shearlings to £315 twice.

The consignment of 20 shearlings from Needless Hall sold to average £291.60

Our judge Mr Robson, Malton awarded the first prize shearlings to a pen of five Beltex cross shearlings from Messrs Skidmore, Needless Hall with this pen selling for £310.

Messrs Wilson, Bankdale sold a pens of 5 Texel & Beltex cross shearlings to £300, £275, £255, £250. With the consignment of 170 selling to average £208.82

Messrs Dodd, Skylin, Temple Sowerby sold Cheviot Mules to £172 and £170.

Mule two shears sold to £190 and £180 for pens of 10 and 5 also from Skylin.

Trade was fantastic throughout with strong sheep being in particular demand.

All breeds of shearlings sold to average £193.00

Breeding Rams sold to £1350 for the first prize Beltex shearling from Messrs Boustead, High Lane Farm, Newbiggin on Lune selling to Messrs Brown, Lummas House, Richmond.

The second prize Beltex shearling sold to £920 from Messrs McCune, Farewell Grange, Aspatria selling to Messrs Robson, Malton.
