Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their fortnightly sale of store lambs. The largest entry so far this season at Kirkby Stephen of 1101 store lambs were on offer.
Topping the sale at £110 were a pen of six Beltex cross lambs from JT Capstick, Yew House, Newbiggin on Lune.
Messrs Allinson, West Briscoe, Barnard Castle also sold a pen of eight Beltex cross lambs to make £100 with another pen of ten selling for £94 also from this home.
Texel cross lambs sold to £99 for a pen of ten from Messrs Rutter, Green Gill Farm, Barnard Castle with another pen of fifteen Texel cross lambs selling for £97 also from this home.
Hill cheviot lambs sold to £82 for a pen of fourteen from H&B Wharton, Tebay.
A pen of twenty-one Swaledale lambs sold to make £54 from Elm Gill Farm, Mallerstang.
Trade for all classes was still strong and dearer than many other sales which have been reported as being less money on recent weeks. A packed ringside of potential buyers were out in force and more lambs could have been easily sold! The next sale at Kirkby Stephen is Tuesday 13th August.
