Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 31st August Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves again another strong entry of 261 presented to a large ringside of buyers.

Topping the sale was a Charolais suckler bred calf from J W Crozier, Raggetsyke selling for £570.  Aberdeen Angus bullocks topped at £540 from first time vendor R Osborne, Thornhill, this run of calves averaged £530.  British Blues topped at £535 for 2 from M & JA Johnston, Petteril Side whose run of 15 averaged £441.  Heifers topped at £570 again this time from AS & HM McGimpsey, Thorns Farm from a suckler bred Limousin.  A lack of Dairy bred calves was present with a top price coming for Friesians topping at £200 from J Dickinson, Wigton.  Holstein Friesians from WE & DM Hill, Wigton sold a pen at £190.   Smaller calves were met with resistance while stronger calves are sold with ease.  We have over 40 active buyers looking for calves of all classes.
