Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 7^th September Harrison & Hetherington conducted their weekly sale of calves with an entry of 299 forward.   Calves fell under the hammer with trade very similar to recent weeks.  Topping this weeks sale was a Simmental bull from Haregills, Lockerbie selling for £565.  Limousin steers topped at £520 from CM & CS Chapelhow, Penrith.  British Blues steers topped at £515 from TW Martin, Tempest Tower.  Heifers topped at £515 again from Haregills for Charolais cross calves.  Native breeds topped at £470 from Haregills for a Beef Shorthorn heifer.  Dairy bred calves topped at £270 for a pair of Montbelairdes from A F Ramsey, Newton Stewart who saw their run of 14 Montbelairdes average £222.50.  A good show of calves were presented to a strong ringside of buyers looking for all classes of calves.
