OVER 300 DAIRY CATTLE SELL IN BORDERWAYS AUTUMN OPENER  

COWS TOP AT £3200

The Autumn Opener at Borderway attracted a huge consignment of dairy cattle from across the north of England and Scotland.  Over 300 dairy cattle sold to buyers as far south as Devon and up to Perthshire and across to Ireland with trade topping at £3,200 with 140 Holstein milkers averaging almost £2400. 

North West Farmers sponsored the September sale with the top price going to a daughter of De-Su Hartley consigned by the Baillie family from Hillhead Farm near Biggar.  This super uddered cow was fresh in her second and sold for £3200.  Another eight cows and heifers from this home sold to average almost £2800 with a high PLI heifer of +£551 and sired by Boghill Glamour Persuade selling for £3100.

The Wreaywood Holstein herd sold another quality group of cows and heifers to average almost £2700 and topped at £3050 for a second lactation cow sired by DG Brody.

Witherslack Boxcar Joanne sold for £3100, she was consigned by the Inman family from Grange over Sands and was bred from an Envious dam with lactations over 13000kgs

Balcurvie Holsteins consigned a tremendous group of robust heifers with super attractive udders and all producing oceans of milk and topped at £3100 for a daughter of Toc-Farm Fitz.

There was a group of Irish Friesian heifers forward from Cumrue Farms that topped at £2150 to average £1757.

A strong group of late lactation and dry cows were forward from several consignors with numerous lots selling for £1950 including Sandisfarne Aster Faith who was due with her third in October

The Kerricks Pedigree Jersey herd sold 20 in calf heifers due in October & November to average £1728 and topped at £2200 for Kerricks Matt April.  She was sired by wilsonview Matt and was due to Bayview Explore sexed for October.

A group of cross bred in calf heifers Mr Jamison topped at £1650 on several occasions to average £1355.  These heifer were due in March and were mainly Montbeliarde and Dairy Shorthorn cross bred heifers from Friesian dams.

A well bred and well grown group of bulling and heifer calves were forward from the Inglewood herd.  They topped at £1600 for a Sidekick daughter from a VG dam with super high production.
