STORE CATTLE – Yet another good entry of 600 Store Cattle forward selling to yet another cracking trade for all best shaped and fleshed steers and heifers with plainer, poorer quality cattle harder to cash then 3 weeks ago. Top overall was a Limousin heifer from Messrs Graham, Rose Castle, Carlisle achieving £1820. Charolais to £1600 from Julie McNay, Clappers Farm, Wigton. British Blues to £1460 from Messrs Chappelhow & Morley, Clifton Hill, Penrith and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1380 from Messrs Miller, Tarn Lodge, Brampton.
Steers peaked at £1770 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Charlton, Crown Point, Penrith. Simmentals to £1760 from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth who also sold top priced Hereford cross to £1640. Charolais to £1630 from Messrs Charlton, Crown Point and Aberdeen Angus to £1420 on two occasions firstly by Messrs Miller, Tarn Lodge, Brampton and secondly by Messrs Hindmarsh Partners, Warkshaugh, Hexham.

WEANED CALVES – A larger show of 222 weanlings were forward with a plainer show on offer which resulted in quality being in demand.
Messrs Musgrave, Hill Farm, sold Limousin x bulls for £1300 (x2). Mrs Thomlinson, Park View sold a Limousin bull for £1280. Messrs Dixon & Chappelhow, Westfield House sold a Limousin bull for £1270. Messrs Carr & Son, Brackenhill Sold a Holstein x heifer for £1180. Messrs Veitch, Holme Lea sold a 13 month old Limousin x bullock for £1070. Messrs Coulthard & Son, Davygill Farm sold a Limousin x bullock for £1050.
