Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 14^th September Harrison & Hetherington conducted their weekly sale of calves with a strong entry of 358 forward.  Younger calves were met with a strong trade from start to finish but stronger calves being marginally back on the week.

Charolais stole the show today topping at £650 for an outstanding bull from Messrs JF Edgar, Castle Nook.  British Blues topped at £485 three times from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower for very strong calves.  E Harryman, Low Farm, Wigton topped the Limousin section at £540 and Connell Farms Ltd topped the Angus section at £480 and they also topped with Fleckvieh’s with the price of £480.

Messrs JF Edgar, Castle Nook also had the top priced heifer with a Charolais at £515.  British Blues topped at £390 from Messrs Hyslop, Meinside.  Swinside Farming made the trip from St Boswells today and topped the Limousin heifer section at £410.  £440 was the top priced Angus from Connell Farm Ltd with an outstanding heifer.
