Lazonby Store Lamb Sale

On Thursday 8^th of September, Harrison and Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. Again, another massive show of 2905 lambs fell under the hammer with an average price of £76.16 being achieved. A wet day certainly didn’t dampen spirits with lambs still achieving past vendors expectations. Topping the sale was a pen of Texel’s from GR & SM, Makepeace, Alston which sold for £123. Beltex lambs topped at £116 for a pen of 13 from M Faulder, Ewan Close. Hill sheep met a very competitive trade with a top price of £100.50 coming for a pen of 64 cheviot x lambs from R & J Watson, Croglin, Low Hall. Mules topped at £100 from regular vendor W & HI Watson, Sanderd Close. Swaledale lambs topped at £77 from JJ Hope, Branthwaite, Wigton. A good show of sheep was presented which were met with a competitive trade throughout leaving vendors more than satisfied with the days trade.
