On Wednesday 14th September Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held its Annual Sale of North Country Cheviot Park Rams & Females at Lockerbie Mart.
*FEMALES ON FIRE AND RAMS AVERAGE £1180*
FEMALES: The day began with the ewes that sold to average £229 and topped at £300 from Messrs McCormick, Boreland.
Gimmers averaged a whopping £350 and topped at £850 from Messrs Davies, North Synton.
Ewe Lambs were the highlight of the females section, exceeding all expectations, and topping at £700 from Messrs WD Allen, Humbleheugh and averaged a stunning £263.
RAMS: Rams sold exceptionally well, selling more on the year and averaged £1178.67.
Topping this section at £6500 was the first ram in the Carruthers run from Messrs CR Graham, Carruthers Farm. An Allenshaws Aristocrat son out of an Jethart Xtra Special daughter, he now joins the Philiphaugh flock in Selkirk.
The next best came from the first prize single consigned by R & T Dun, Gilston Flock, with their shearling ram, Gilston Champagne Supernova. He was an Overacres Xtreme son out of a Broomhillbank Tough Lad daughter and sold to G Davies & Partners, North Synton Farm, Selkirk.
The Humbleheugh flock owned by WD Allen, followed on next at £4500 with a Carruthers Zavi son out of a Gospelhall Wiggy daughter, he goes to the Kelso Flock, Kelsocleugh Farming, Yetholm.
The 2nd prize single ram sold to the next top of £4000, the pen leader in the Allanshaw flock of J Runciman & Sons. This ram also won 1st prize Kelso show 2022 and sold to R T Dun, Gilston Flock.
The Carruthers flock purchased Wandylaw Chance from the Diana Walton for £4000. He was sired by Wandylaw Appeal and out of an Overacres Ryan.
The next price of £3800 was attained twice, firstly by the Synton flock belonging to Scott Davies with a Synton Bravesheart son selling to Eric Graham, Sheltland, followed by the Nettlingflatt flock of Andrew pate, with Nettlingflat Carling, by a Synton bred sire out of an Overacres Vannistelroy daughter, selling to Messrs Jordan, Devon.
Next week at Lockerbie sees 5052 North Country Cheviot Hill females on Tuesday 20th and 370 Hill Rams on Wednesday 21st September.
