Borderway Latter Fair Ram Sale

On Thursday 15^th September at Borderway Mart, Harrison & Hetherington held their annual Latter Fair Ram sale of mainly Suffolk, Texel and other Continental rams.

The pre sale show was kindly and ably judged by Mr Peter McCune, Farewell Grange who awarded the Overall Champion accolade to  Messrs Mounsey, Ashfield for their pure Dutch Texel shearing which sold to £1000. The Reserve champion was awared to the 2^nd prize Texel and Other Continental for a Texel cross Beltex from Messrs Priestley, Cracrop Farm, which sold to £600. The 1^st prize Suffolk was consigned by local breeders Messrs Denby, The Riddings Hill which sold to £850.

A good selection of quality was presented to a busy ringside of buyers whereby a strong well bred rams were a delight to sell. Outwith the show, the sale topped at £1300 for a magnificent Texel shearling from R & A Harrison, Hazel Head, Wigton with their run of 7 shearlings averaging £950 per head. JR Douglas, Cambeckhill sold a tremendous run of quality Texel shearlings topping at £1200, averaging £791 for 19.
