Borderway Prime Sheep Sale

PRIME SHEEP – On Tuesday 20^th September Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of 20123 prime lambs, a change of day did nothing to damper number with vendors out in force a plainer show on the week sold to a firmer trade throughout. The sale topped at £158 per head for a tremendous Dutch Texel lamb sold by Messrs Mounsey, Ashfield, Laversdale to Mr Neil Lomax. Messrs Mitchinson, High Greenhill topped per kilo with 41kg Beltex lambs selling at £144 or 351.2ppk to Mr Andrew Dawson. The sale will return to its normal Monday next week.

CAST EWES – A change of day did not discourage vendors with a good average being achieved from a show mainly consisting of hill ewes. Topping the sale was a Texel ewe from Mr Mark Batty, Flimby Hall that’s sold for £154. Mules topped at £114 from the same home. Suffolks topped at £139 from JB & SM Mounsey, Ashfield. Hill ewes were in abundance with top price being a pen of Cheviots for £97 from G Wilson, Moffat. Swaledale ewes topped at £62 from D Smith, Houghton, Carlisle.
