North Country Cheviot Hill Female Sale

At Lockerbie on Tuesday 20th September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, held the annual sale of North Country Cheviot Hill females where a fantastic catalogued entry of 5256 females were presented. There was a strong trade for the best sorts from start to finish.

An increased number of 2174 draft ewes were forward and topped at £300 from Messrs Iredale, Greenbank Farm. The ewes section averaged up at 141.21 (plus £8.71).

In the gimmer section an entry of 1953 were forward and sold to a top of £330 for a pen of 10 from Messrs Thompson, Hownam Grange. This sectioned sold to average £180.58, just slightly back on the previous year.

In the ewe lamb section Messrs Elliott, Woodside Farm, Kelso sold pens to £200 and £190. The 1129 lambs sold to average £110.24 and sold to average at £110.24.
