A DAY TO REMEMBER

At Lockerbie on Wednesday 21st September, Harrison and Hetherington held their annual Sale of Hill Rams on behalf of the North Country Cheviot Sheep Society.

A remarkable trade was had from start to finish, with an incredible clearance rate. A whopping £1610 averaged was reported, once again up on the year, exceeding all expectations.

Topping the sale at £18,000 was Rock Farming with Hethpool Banger, a Hethpool X-Rated son, who sold to a joint partnership with Messrs Bennett, Plasucha and Messrs Baillie, Calla.

Rock Farming reinvested with Woodside Bourbon purchasing for £16,000, owned by Messrs Elliot, this ram was sired by Intack Vodka Shot.

Following the trend, Messrs Elliot also invested his money back with Attonburn Bittersweet. This ram was from the Attonburn flock belonging to Bwmont Farming and sold for £10,000.

Selling late in the day was Messrs Douglas, Whitehope flock with Whitehope Asterix who sold there pen leader at £8000. He was a Suisgill Vanguard son and joins the Sourhope flock of Messrs Flintoft, Kelso.

Also fetching £8000 was Hethpool Bam Bam from Rock Farming, this time sired by Sorbietrees Victor and sold to the Whitehope Flock of Messrs Douglas.

Mr Gareth Price, Cymraeg took the long journey from south Wales to Lockerbie with his rams and was not disappointed. His pen leader sold for £7000, a Hownam Grange Valiente son, purchased by Messrs Wilson, Newbank.

The Benger flock, of Messrs Irving sold two rams for £7000. Firstly Benger Beirne a Hethpool Wattie son, selling to Messrs Hepburn, North House. His next ram Benger Barbarian also a son of Hethpool Wattie, sold to Messrs Reid, Boreland.

The next ram making £7000 was Newbank Blizzard, consigned by Messrs Wilson, he was a son of Hethpool Vandal and sold to Mullholland, Shaws Farm.

A fantastic entry of 324 rams were very keenly sought after, with only 5 rams not finding new homes, the sale averaged £1610.65 (+£50)
