Lazonby Store Lamb Sale

On Thursday 22nd of September, Harrison and Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market.  A smaller show of 1907 lambs were presented with all classes being well bid for.  A total sale average of £75.31 was achieved with trade more than satisfying vendors demands.  Top price of the day came from Mrs Harrison, Aimshaugh, Alston who sold an excellent pen for £104.  These sheep were Texel cross lambs and 88 went on to average £96.85.  Local supporter Andrew Stainton also sold a quality well bred pen of mules to £95.  Charollais topped at £98 from Messrs Howe, Newby, Penrith while mule lambs topped at £94 from Mr Swindle, Brampton.  Hill sheep topped at £82 for a pen of 24 Cheviot crosses from Mr Thompson, Melmerby.  Herdwick cross lambs topped at £74 from Messrs Harrison, Bennett Head, Penrith for a pen of 24.

A good show of sheep were presented to a stronger ringside of buyers looking to take advantage of the quality inside the Eden Valleys leading store lamb centre.
