Borderway Store and breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 26^th September, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.

BREEDING SHEEP: The weekly breeding sheep sale was met with a busy ringside of buyers. The sale commenced with a couple of Texel rams from Messrs Nichol selling to a top of £300. Shearling gimmers topped at £190 for a pen of Suffolks from Messrs Houldey, Kirtleton House, with Texels to £180 from Messrs Hird, Parkhead. Mules sold to £145 from Messrs Harrison, Low House Farm. Ewe lambs reached the £104 mark for Bluefaced Leicesters from Messrs Greenop, Bridgebank.

Breeding Rams: Texel £300, £250 Priesthill.

Shearling Gimmers: Suffolk £190 Kirtleton House, Texel £180, £132, £128 Parkhead Farm, £168, £140 Buttermere Close, £160, £118 Intack House, £160 Low House Farm, £145 Burthwaite Croft, Beltex £150 Leafield Farm, Mule £145 Low House Farm, £128 Town Head Farm.

Ewe Lambs: Bluefaced Leicester £140 Bridge Bank, Texel £135, £110 Low House Farm, £125 Stubbsgill Farm,  Suffolk £115 Talkin Head.

Ewes: Mule £140, £130 (x2), £125, £118 Demesne Farm, Texel £135, £130 Demesne Farm, £135, £118 Branch End Farm.

STORE SHEEP: Store lambs remain a great trade, especially for the stronger end. Longer keep lambs take a slight hit but still plenty of customers for all types.
