Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Special Sale of Store Lambs when a catalogued entry of over 2000 lambs were on offer.
The top price of £220 was achieved on two separate occasions, firstly for a Beltex cross lamb from Messrs Marston, Easegill Head which sold to Messrs Griffiths, Ellesmere. Then also achieving £220 was another Beltex cross lamb; this being consigned by first time vendors at this sale Messrs Beveridge, Bishop Auckland.
Messrs Marston, Easegill Head also sold a pair of Beltex cross wether lambs to make £202.
Messrs Beveridge, Bishop Auckland sold Beltex cross wethers to make £178 with pens of 5 wethers making £156, £150. A pen of 7 wethers making £147 and a pen of 20 Beltex cross wethers making £144 all from Messrs Beveridge. The whole consignment of 215 lambs from this home sold to average a whopping £131 with 180 of these being wether lambs.
For what was the best turnouts of top quality store lambs seen here in Kirkby Stephen and that could possibly be seen anywhere in the country it attracted a full ringside of buyers from all parts of the country from Aberdeen to Milton Keynes.
