STORE CATTLE – 1139 head of cattle sold at Borderways weekly sale including 541 Store cattle which saw less buyers around the ringside despite this, trade remained strong for all best qualities and fleshed cattle. Top overall at £1840 was a Charolais cross from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth. The same vendors also sold another two bullocks to £1700 and £1640. Limousins from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle to £1740 and another to £1700 from Messrs Minshaw, Central Stores, Maryport. British Blues to £1500 from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown.
Heifers to £1600 for a Limousin from Messrs Phillips, Mains of Minnydow, Castle Douglas and £1590 from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm. Holsteins Friesian to £1580 from Messrs Miller, Tarn Lodge, Brampton. British Blue to £1410 from Paul Storr, Abbots Close, Wigton.
Black and white steers peaked at £1280 twice, firstly by Messrs Bendle, The Nook, Carlisle and secondly by Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle both for Friesians.

WEANED CALVES – Cows and calves topped at £1570 for a Belted Galloway from Messrs Scott, The Square, Carlisle. Bulls once again a tremendous trade topping at £1540 from Norman Farming Company, Carlisle. Bullocks and heifers were a strong trade for the best and the strongest, however the bottom end were definitely harder to cash although there was buyers for those types. More cattle required to meet growing demand.
