Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their sale of 3,591 Registered and Unregistered Swaledale Ewes, Gimmer Shearlings and Gimmer Lambs.
Topping the ewes at £700 per head were a pen of five 2 and 3 crop ewes from Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm, Barnard Castle which sold to Messrs Scott, Barnard Castle.
Another pen of five 2 and 3 crop ewes sold to make £600 also shown by Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm which also selling to Messrs Scott, Barnard Castle.
The pre sale show judging was carried out by Michael & Barbara Coulthard, Bishop Auckland, who had one of the best show of ewes and shearlings put in front of them, and carried out the judging in a able and professional manner.
The overall championship was awarded to a pen of ten 2 and 3 crop ewes from Messrs Hutchinson, Old Spital Farm, Barnard Castle which went on to sell for £360 to Messrs Bousfield, Brough.
Also selling for £300 was the second prize pen of ewes from Messrs Wilson, Arngill House purchased by Messrs Wilson, Ashstead, Kendal.

Winning to best run of 60 or more ewes and shearlings was Messrs Beckwith, New Hall, Barras.
Next selling at £280 was a pen of ten 2 and 3 crop ewes from Messrs Alderson, Barras which sold to Messrs Peart, Frosterley. With another pen of fourteen ewes from this home selling to make £230 to Messrs Taylor, Waterhouses.
Messrs Calvert, Hoggarths Farm, Keld topped their run of sheep at £260 for a pen of ten 2 and 3 crop ewes which sold to Messrs Close, Skipton.
Also making to £260 was a pen of ten 2 and 3 crop ewes from Messrs Beckwith, New Hall, Barras which sold to Messrs Metcalf, Barningham House, Richmond.
Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm sold another pen of ten 2 and 3 crop ewes to make £230 selling to Messrs Handley, Gunnerfleet Farm, Chapel le dale.
Next selling for £220 was a pen of ten 1 crop ewes from Messrs Beaty, The Croft selling to Messrs Brown, Oak House, Ravenstonedale.
Messrs Birbeck, High Stennerskeugh sold a pen of ten 2 and 3 crop ewes to make £215 selling to Messrs Duncan, County Antrim.
Topping the shearlings at £260 were the first prize pen of ten from Messrs Walton, Goodlie Hill Farm, Great Asby which went on to sell to Messrs Taylor, Waterhouses.
Trade throughout the sale was much dearer than expected with all classes selling in excess of expectations and with strong well bred pens of both ewes and shearlings selling to last years levels and above.
A packed ringside of buyers from Biggar to Cornwall and several from over the water with 75 active buyers in total.
Ewes sold to average a fantastic £156.18 down £9.99 on the year, Shearlings averaged £153.21 which was up £7.89 on the year.
15 pens sold between £200-£700
42 pens and 508 ewes and shearlings sold between £170-£700.
Swaledale Gimmer lambs topped at £122 on two separate occasions firstly for a pen of ten from Messrs Beaty, the Croft which sold to Messrs Woof, Leyburn. Also making £122 were another pen of ten from Messrs Calvert, Hoggarths which sold to Messrs Freeman, Troutbeck.
Messrs Beaty sold another pen at £120 also selling to Messrs Woof, Leyburn.
The pre sale show which was kindly sponsored by I’ansons, Eden Farm Supplies, H Pigney & Son and J Noel Paul & Co Accountants was carried out by Mr John Nutter, Manor Farm, Clitheroe carry out the judging and awarded first place to Messrs Birbeck, West End Farm, Brough this pen going on to sell for £110 to the judge.
