Borderway Store and breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 3^rd October, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.

STORE SHEEP: The weekly sale of store lambs had a smaller show presented to a larger ringside of buyers looking for all classes of lambs. Topping the sale was a pen of Beltex’s from TW & M Bird, Wreay selling for £102. Mules topped at £74 for a pen from SW Hague, Whitehaven for 12 sold. Suffolk’s topped at £84 from DW & JA Osborne, Welton for a strong pen of 19. Herdwick lambs topped at £73 from Mr Taylor, Syke Farm. A good show of strong Texels were forward with many pens selling over £85. Swaledale topped at £47 again from AW Hague.

BREEDING SHEEP: Breeding sheep trade was off the clock, with all classes being keenly bid for. Topping the sale was a pen of 7 Texels shearlings from C Crosbie, Townfoot, Dumfries selling for £220. Suffolk shearlings topped at £185 from DC Houldey, Kirtleton. Aged ewes were a serious trade with pens of 4shear ewe selling to £148 from DA Watson, Ghyll House.

Ewes: Suffolk £185, £170 Kirtleton House, Texel £148 Ghyll House, £95, £88, £80 Green Mill, Mules £102 Ghyll House, £100 Green Mill.

Breeding Rams: Texel £320, £240 Parkhead Farm.
