On Tuesday 27th September, Harrison and Hetherington held their Annual show and sale of Swaledale and Herdwick rams, within Broughton Auction Mart.
HERDWICK
A new Centre Record was set at the Annual show and sale, by AJ Hartley, Turner Hall, with their homebred Herwick shearling selling to 10,000gns, surpassing the previous record set in 2021.
The Judging was left in the capable hands of Thomas Postlethwatie, Spout House and Stephen Baines, Ghyll Bank with Referee Nicky Race, Burnthwaite. Kindly sponsoring this even were our long standing supporters, Peter-Horn Mobile Dipper, Tony Sharp, Furness & South Cumberland Supply Association and Farmers Guardian Marts The Heart.
Claiming the championship rosette was the 1st prize shearling shown by Messrs Lightfoot, which sold for 2200gns, he also won the 2nd prize shearling which sold for 5200gns.
Taking the Reserve was Messrs RRJ Weir, Chapel House Farm with their 2shear ram, which later sold for 3800gns.

The Swaledale classes were kindly sponsored by Furness & South Cumberland Association and the classes were ably judged by Robin Jenkinson, Charles Ground.
The Championship rosette was claimed by Messrs Capstick, Fellside Farm which also sold to the top price in this section for £900.
