Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 5^th October Harrison & Hetherington conducted their weekly sale of calves with a large show 400 forward.

Messrs Elwen, Netherfield topped today’s trading at £465 for a tremendous British Blue bull calf. £415 was top price Limousin from Messrs Weatherson, Edges Green and £415 was top price Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Wood, Groundy Croft for an outstanding calf. Black and whites were up to £135 from Messrs Jackson, Clarks Farm.

Limousin heifers topped at £440 from Messrs Ewing, Dumbretton. British Blue heifers topped at £385 from Messrs Martin, Tempest Tower for an outstanding run of calves. Simmental heifers sold to £220 from Messrs Kirkpatrick and Aberdeen Angus heifers to £320 again from Messrs Kirkpatrick.

Stronger calves were a good trade from start to finish but again young heifers and bulls proved hard to cash.
