STORE CATTLE – A larger show of 587 store cattle were forward, whereby flesh and power were a marvellous trade, yet plainer and more weathered types were harder to cash.

Bullocks topped at £1820 for a Charolais from TH & PA Johnstone, Westray, while heifers topped at £1640 for a Limousin cross from TB Stamper & Son, Rose Farm.

WEANED CALVES – A packed ringside on a rainy Wednesday in October at Borderway as both bulls and stirks see good returns. Quality and size sell extremely well with lesser and weathered cattle harder to cash. Limousin bulls sold to £1270 from Messrs Murray, The Throp. Others sold to £1200 from Bulman, Burn House.

Limousin bullocks sold to £1050 from Messrs Dale-Sunley. Messrs Hogg, Middle Brownrigg also sold another to the same money. Heifers topped at £1310 from Messrs Thompson, Edenbanks.
