On Tuesday the 4th of October Harrison and Hetherington conducted its sale of store lambs within Middleton and Teesdale Mart.
STORE SHEEP: A good show of 700 store lambs were presented to a strong ringside of buyers eager for the quality of lambs forward. An average of £57 was achieved which was delightful considering two thirds of the sale were hill bred lambs.
Topping the sale was a pen of 18 Texel’s from Messrs Addison, Hayberries selling to £81. Mules topped at £72 for a pen of 22 from JB Fletcher, East Friar House. Swaledales were in strong demand with a top price for a pen of 35 from Mr Andrew Bousfield, Greenhills selling for £49.
A good show was presented with trade more than matching other local centres.

BREEDING SHEEP: Breeding sheep were met with a serious trade, with Mr John Bell, Vallance Lodge selling a pen of 10 3&4 shear ewes for £87. The same home sold another pen of 15 3&4 shears for £83.
