At Broughton Mart on Tuesday 18TH October Harrison & Hetherington held their principal sale of Herdwick & Swaledale wether lambs.
A strong trade was achieved, seeing a high demand for stronger end Herdwicks lambs. Swaledale and whitefaced lambs sold exceptionally well, yet the smaller end of Herdwick lambs proved harder to cash.
Texel store lambs topped at £84 for a pen of 14 from SRP Knowles, Croglinhurst. Hill Cheviots lambs topped at £75 from LM & C Whittaker, Scalderskew.
Cross lambs topped at £69 for a pen of 20 from GE & MG Dixon, Hill Top Farm. While pure Herdwick wether lambs topped at £53 from D & HS Ellwood, Baskell Farm.
Swaledale wethers topped at £46 for a pen of 21 from DW Crowe, Wha House.
The next store sheep sale at Broughton Auction Mart will take place on Tuesday 1st November.
