Borderway Store sheep sale including the Second Bluefaced Leicester Rams and other Continental Rams

On Monday 17^th October, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep at Borderway.

STORE SHEEP: Lambs sell to a better trade than expected proving Borderway is the place to sell. Texels topped at £110 from Messrs Wilson, Meadow Farm. Others sold to £96 from Messrs Rutter, Fartown. Suffolks were up to £93 from Messrs Fitzimons, North Country Cheviots sold to £79 from the same good home. Greyfaced Leicesters were up to £69 from W Blake & Son of Blakebeck.

More numbers are required on a weekly basis to meet demand.

BREEDING SHEEP:  This weeks breeding sale included the second sale of Bluefaced Leicester rams as well as it’s late sale of breeding rams. A good show of 90 Bluefaced Leicester rams were forward to a selective trade throughout. Topping the sake was a shearling from Mr S Nelson, Spittal selling to £900 to DW Williams, Fron Goch.

Lambs topped at £500 from Andrew Hewson, Burgh Head selling to PL & J Dawson, Kendal. Other lambs topped at £420 from Mr Pyman, Park View for a Texel cross.
