Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale - Day 3

Kirkby Stephen, Faraday Road, Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4QL

Harrison & Hetherington held the third day of the annual Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale on Friday when 356 shearlings rams were on offer.  

The sale topped at £45,000 for the reserve champion shearling ram consigned by Messrs Hutchinson, Bail Hill, Forest in Teesdale and was purchased by Messrs Nelson, Bull and Cave and Messrs Richardson, Ghyll House, Dufton.

Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall, Kendal sold rams to £35000 being purchased by Messrs Allinson, West Briscoe, Baldersdale and Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm, Bowes

Messrs Beckwith, New Hall, Barras achieved £20000 on two occasions firstly for lot 846 which was sold to a three was split between Messrs Bland, Cotegill Farm, Gaisgill; Messrs White Rigg Farm, Lunedale and Messrs Porter, Riddings Farm, Reeth.
And also lot 848 from Messrs Beckwith also achieved £20000 seeling to a three way split Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall, Kendal; Messrs Hargreaves, Meadow Bank, Barley and Messrs Sunter, Nova Farm, Hawes.

Messrs Richardson, Big Fernyford, Buxton sold rams to £20000 selling to Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm, Bowes and Messrs Burncroft, Eggleston.

The overall champion rosette was awarded to Messrs Walker, Brennand Farm, Dunsop Bridge which went on to sell for £15000 to Messrs Hutchinson, Old Spital Farm, Bowes.

356 rams sold to average £2471.72

A fantastic overall two day average of £2273.25 was achieved for 610 rams.
