Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 26th October Harrison & Hetherington conducted their weekly sale of calves with a fine entry of 310 forward which met with a roaring trade with buyers from Cornwall to Aberdeen.

Top price today went to Messrs Fox, Windy Hill at £510 for a strong Limousin bull calf.  Turnbull Farming were up to £450 with a tremendous run of blue calves and Angus were up to £440 from Messrs Reed, Moss Side.  Black and whites were up to £155 twice from Ling Dairies.

Heifers were a strong trade but plainer types and younger sorts were harder to cash.  Messrs Fox topped the heifers again with a Limousin at £420.  Messrs Reed, Moss Side was up to £380 in the Blue section and Angus were up to £240 twice.

Huge volumes of buyers are flocking to Borderway and many going away empty handed with more calves required weekly.
