MASSIVE DAIRY SALE AT BORDERWAY

MILKERS AVERGAE OVER £2300 WITH 6 OVER 3k

Borderway was fully to capacity for the November Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale with over 400 dairy cattle selling to a top of £3200 with milking heifers averaging £2336. Buyers from across the UK packed the ringside with all categories of dairy cattle attracting brisk bidding. The breeders and consignors must be congratulated on the exceptional quality they had on offer.

North West Farmers sponsored the October sale that saw two animals equal the top price of £3200. First to sell for £3200 was Carnduff Attico Rosebud who was consigned by the Bryson family from Lesmahagow. Another three heifers from this home sold to average £3000.

Second to sell for £3200 was Cambus Useful Sietske consigned by Nether Pratis Farming in Fife. A daughter by Westcoast Ardor and daughter of Siemers Bloomfield sold for £3000 from this home with another 8 heifers selling to averaging £2775.

The Errolston herd owned by the Davidson family from Gretna topped the cow trade at £3000 for Errolston Security BA Ricki. She was a recently calved second lactation cow producing almost 50kgs. This fine group of cows and heifers averaged £2566.

Balcurvie Holsteins consigned a tremendous group of 23 robust heifers with super attractive udders and all producing oceans of milk and topped at £2850 to average just over £2300.

John Adamson owner of the Swaites herd sold a very milky group of Ayrshire cows and heifers and topped at £2500 for a second calver bred form an Excellent 93 dam.

The sale included the final dispersal of the Inglewood herd that topped at £2600 for Inglewood Rager Neeltje. She was a freshly calved heifer sired by Rager Red. This fine group of mostly cows at various stages of lactation averaged £1484.

North Corbelly Dairying sold 40 freshly calved cows all in their second lactation. These animals were mainly Jersey Friesian cross bred cows that are managed in a grazing unit just outside Dumfries. This fine group of attractive udder cows topped at £2600 and averaged £1923.

Dry cows topped at £1600 for a young cow due in December to the Hereford to average £1518

A really impressive group of 53 in calf heifers were consigned by several farms to average £1550 with the trade topping at £2300 for Wormanby Dalliance Miss America. She was consigned by Wormanby Farms and was bred from an Excellent dam sired by Braxton.

49 bulling heifers averaged £1106 and topped at £1900 for Inglewood Tropic Kitty. She was sired by Peak Tropic and bred from an Excellent 94 dam with over 60 ton lifetime. 30 heifer calves from the same home averaged £534 and topped at £980 for a daughter of Alum from the same dam.
