STORE CATTLE – An increased entry of 512 store cattle forward seeing trade dearer week on week at this moment. Topping the sale at £1680 was an Aberdeen Angus steer from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Carlisle. Simmental sold to £1650 from Claremont Properties, Penrith. Limousin’s sold to £1630 for a 14 month old crossbred from Messrs Hunter, The Steel Farm, Hexham this was one of a run of 20 quality animals from this home. British Blue crosses to £1480 from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith and Charolais to £1410 from Messrs Neve, Riggfoor Farm, Brampton. Heifers saw a day’s top of £1640 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Wilkinson, Arkleby House, Wigton. Messrs Hunter, The Steel Farm sold their best to £1630 for 14 months and Messrs Oliver, Walton Woodhead, Carlisle sold to £1600. British Blues to £1570 from Messrs Little, The Guards, Carlisle and Aberdeen Angus peaked at £1350 from Messrs Middleton, Stone House, Wigton.

WEANED CALVES – The weekly sale of bulls and weaners stayed consistent with both numbers and trade this week. Topping the bull section at £1550 was an outstanding British Blue bull from Messrs Teasdale, Doddick. Following that at £1150 was a Simmental bull from Messrs Wigham, Riggshields.
Topping the bullock section at £1385 was three outstanding Limousins from Messrs Bird, High Wreay, closely followed at £1280was another Limousin also from Messrs Bird, High Wreay.
British Blue bullocks sold to £1130, this time from Messrs Raine, Randalholme.
Taking the lead in the heifer section at £1280 was an outstanding British Blue cross from Messrs Raines, Randalholme, followed by a Limousin at £990 from Messrs Scott, Hayton. Messrs Preston, Pallet Hill sold an Aberdeen Angus to £910.
