Middleton show & Sale of Store Catle

Middleton-in-Teesdale, Station Road, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Co Durham, DL12 0PJ

On Tuesday 8th November Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held its show and sale of Suckler Calves within Middleton-In-Teesdale Market.

The sale of 515 cattle took place and a pleasant trade was witnessed especially for well fleshed steers meeting an amazing trade. Before the sale took place the pre sale show took place with the honours of judging going to Mr Phill Sellers, Lincoln who did a fantastic job of judging. After much deliberation it was decided the championship should be awarded to the first prize British Blue steer from JC & C White, Rigg Farm which went on to make £2200 going to the judge. The Reserve Champion went to the first prize British Blue heifer from Mr David Mallon, Pallet Crag who went on to sell for top price of the day of £2300 to Mr David Jarman, Workington. The Champion Limousin Trophy was awarded to a steer from Mr Gary Bell, Haas Side Farm who sold for £1480.

Onto the sale and a great days trading was witnessed with a steer average of £1034 and Heifers averaging £950. The cattle on offer are unrivalled and are a huge credit to the area with many calves aged 6 – 7 months old. A packed ringside of buyers ensured all calves were keenly bid for and confirmed that Middleton in Teesdale is the market in the North of England for selling suckler calves.
