WORMANBY TOPS WITH ZITA
The November Border & Lakeland sale was packed with phenomenal milking animals many with exceptional pedigrees. Buyers from across the UK were in attendance or online and watched the trade top at 4,000gns with the overall average coming to £2874 with 17 animals selling for or more than £3000.
The show was sponsored by Dugdale Nutrition and was judged by Robert McColm from the Soulseat Brown Swiss herd near Stranraer. His Overall Champion went to the winning cow, Wormanby Crushtime Zita who was consigned by Wormanby Farms. She was sired by Crushtime and was bred from a super line of the Prelude Spottie family. Her granddam was an Excellent 94 Goldwyn whose maternal sister was the two time Italian Champion Toc-Farm Allen Amyly EX96. This super udder cow sold for 4,000gns to Mr Mackenzie from the Black Isle.

The Reserve Champion went to the winning Junior heifer Wormanby Pepper Dellia who was consigned by Alan Cannon from the Espland herd. Dellia had been purchased as a calf in the Wormanby Youngstock sale in 2021, her dam was not classified however the next five dams were all high scoring Excellent cows going back to Snow-N Denises Dellia. This super powerful heifer sold for 3,000gns to Mr Coulthurst from near Preston. Another 11 heifers from this home sold to average £2739.
Reserve Champion

The Boclair herd sold four well bred cows and heifers to average £3189 and topped with Boclair Tropic Kalla selling for 3,700gns to Mr Coulthurst from near Preston. She was sired by Peak Tropic and was bred from three generations of Excellent or Very Good dams going back to an Excellent 93 Goldwyn with over 110 ton lifetime.
Also selling for 3,700gns was Bankview Sidekick Pie who was consigned by Mark Walton from near Kirby Stephen. She was bred from 11 generations of Excellent or Very Good dams from the Golden-Oaks Mark Prudence family and now joins the herd of Mr Coulthurst from near Preston.
Berryholme Holstein sold to heifers to average £3360 and topped at 3,500gns for Berryholme Applicable Applause who was purchased by Mr Coulthurst from near Preston.
The Border & Lakeland Herd competition was won recently by the Stowbeck Holstein herd. They consigned 8 special heifers many bred from deep cow families and all giving oceans of milk to average £2979. This impressive group topped at 3,400gns for Stowbeck Drogo Mavis who was purchased by Mr Coulthurst from near Preston.
