Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale at £2638.85 was a cast British Blue bull weighing 1186kg and making 222.5p/kg from Messrs Dargue, Smardale Hall, Smardale which sold to Owain Llyr.

Topping at 272.5p/kg was a six year old British Blue cross cow weighing 885kg and totalling £2411.63 from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside purchased by Owain Llyr.

Messrs Tiplady, Red House Farm, Barnard Castle sold a British Blue cast bull weighing 1064kg to make 223.5p/kg and £2378.04 selling to Owain Llyr.

Dairy cows topped at £1503.57 for a nine year old Friesian weighing 931kg and making 161.5p/kg from Messrs Hodgson, Soulby Grange, Soulby which was bought by D Barker.

The same home also sold a Beef Shorthorn cow weighing 877kg to make 180.5p/kg totalling £1582.99

Dairy cows also sold to 177.5p/kg for a Holstein/Friesian from Messrs Walton, Bank View, Rookby.

Trade for all classes was as dear as seen for some time with an overall sale average of 162p/kg and £1085.10 being achieved.
