Borderway Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 30th November Harrison & Hetherington conducted their weekly sale of 254 calves.  A much better trade was witnessed with stronger calves meeting a serious demand.  Topping the sale was T & AW Wadsworth & Son, Newton Stewart selling a British Blue steer selling for £500.  This run of 10 Angus and Blue crosses averaged a stunning £395.  Heifers topped at £390 on two separate occasions from D J Livingstone, Gretna and G & SE Fox, Carlisle for Limousin heifers.  Blue heifers topped at £385 from T W Martin, Carlisle.  Dairy bred calves topped at £230 for a Holstein Friesian steer from WE & DM Hill, Wigton.  Norwegian Reds topped at £180 from McCreery Farms, Newton Stewart.  Holstein topped at £160.  A good show of calves was presented with customers present for all classes of calves,  many more could be sold to the vendors advantage.
