CARNDUFF TOPS FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE MONTH

MILKERS AVERAGE OVER £2400 WITH 9 OVER 3k

Borderway was almost full to capacity for the December Dairy sale that had attracted dairy cattle from across the North of England and Scotland. The sale featured almost 400 dairy cattle with several breeds on offer, trade topped of £3500 with milking heifers averaging £2415 with 9 selling for £3000 or above and only 9 selling for under £2000.  Buyers from across the UK packed the ringside with all categories of dairy cattle attracting brisk bidding.  The breeders and consignors must be congratulated on the exceptional quality they had on offer. 

North West Farmers sponsored the December sale with the top price going to the same breeder for the second consecutive month.  Carnduff Raffaello Marie sold for £3,500 and was consigned by the Bryson family from Lesmahagow.  She was giving 42kgs and was sired by Dotti Enterprise Raffaello and bred from a Chief dam.  Another two heifers from this home sold to average £3275.

The Wilson family from Clackmae Farm in Berwickshire sold seven heifers to average £2728 and topped at £3000 for Nydie Mansur Abigail.  This heifer was giving 42kgs and was bred from a 13000kilo dam.  All these heifers were robot ready and all displayed enormous potential to produce large volumes of milk. 

Balcurvie Holsteins from Fife sold 17 heifers to average £2550 and topped at £3000 for Coppside Vaakje 601 who traces back to the Vaakje family at Stardale.  

The Millers from Jenkin Cross Farm near Wigton had the joint top price for the cows selling a second calve cow for £3000.

The Wilson from Woodside Farm sold 7 cows to average £2592 and equalled to the top price cow selling Wreaywood Cordial Fay for £3000.

North Corbelly Dairying sold 37 freshly calved cows all in their second lactation.  These animals were mainly Jersey Friesian cross bred cows that are managed in a grazing unit just outside Dumfries.  This fine group topped at £1750 and averaged £1377.

A group of 24 late lactation cows all due in April to the British Blue topped at £1650 to average £1262.  This was a fine group of cows from Stannock Farm from the Isle of Whithorn.  They were Fleckvieh and Danish Red cross bred cows and will look value for money come the sping.

A tremendous group of in calf heifers from several breeders averaged £1679 with Balcurvie Holsteins consigning a tremendous group of 42 heifers all due in January to top at £1950 for Balcurvie Moemoney Cathy.
