Borderway Sale of Store Cattle & Weanlings

STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 4^th January Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Store cattle where normality almost resumes as the first sale of store cattle was held with a very light show of 86 stores forward.  Trade was good throughout and vendors left with smiles on their faces.  Topping the sale overall was an Aberdeen Angus cross steer from Messrs Robinson, Burtholme Farm, Brampton at £1460. Limousin crosses for the same home sold to £1395 and British Blues from Messrs Middleton, Stone House, Wigton to £1370.

Heifers sold to a days top of £1300 for a 30 month old heifer from Messrs Cullen, Crosshill Farmhouse, Carlisle.  Aberdeen Angus to £1295 from Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan.  British Blues to £1250 from Crosshill Farmhouse again, and Herefords to £1230 from Messrs Greenup, Cross Hill, Carlisle.

WEANED CALVES – New Year and same great returns in Ring 4 as customers in search of cattle.  Bulls top at £1200 from Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall Guards Farm.    Simmental bulls sold to £1140 from Messrs Skelton, Waterloo Farm at just 12 months of age.  Heifers topped at £1280 from Messrs Wilson, Charlesfield for a Limousin.  Bullocks sold to £1100 from Messrs Hope, Albierigg.  Numbers are required for next weeks sale as demand strengthens.
