Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 11^th January Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  Another huge entry forward met with a plethora of buyers from all over  the country to witness the bidding frenzy in the calf ring.  £500 was top price today for a cracking British Blue and Limousins topped at £495 from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale.   Simmental bulls topped at £440 from Seathill Ltd.  Angus bulls topped at £460 from first time vendors T & E Dun, Jeanfield Farm, Lanark for an outstanding 12 week old bull calf.  Hereford bulls were up to £425 from Messrs Vance, Portyerrock, and Holstein Friesians topped at £255 from Messrs Morley, Hadderdale

A top quality show of heifers were forward and met with a pleasing trade.  Messrs Dun, Jeanfield topped at £410 three times with outstanding British Blue heifers.  G & SE Fox, Windy Hill topped the Limousin section twice at £400 and Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at £315 from Messrs McKie, Wedholme Hill.  More calves are required on a weekly basis.
