STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 11th January Harrison and Hetherington held their opening Show and sale of 627 Store cattle. A big thank you to our Judge, Mr Ross Towers. The regions leading store cattle market once again stood up to the challenge of other outlets posting an amazing overall average of £1327. Bullocks averaged £1347 and sold to a top of £1950 for the day’s Champion which was brought forward by Messrs Murray, Roughet Hill, Brampton. This was followed by Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna who sold bullocks to £1860 with his Reserve Champion selling at £1840. Native bullocks sold to £1800 for a Hereford from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth. Dairy bullocks to £1500 for a Holstein from Messrs Scott, Carrick Dean, Maryport.
Heifers averaged £1285 and sold to £1780 for a British Blue from Messrs Johnston, Westray, Cockermouth. Limousins heifers sold to £1760 from Messrs Bunting, Midtown Farm, New Abbey.
Native heifers peaked at £1490 for Herefords from G & L Hewitt, Cardewlees, Wigton. Dairy heifers to £1500 for Montbelairde from Messrs Watson, Millrigg, Wigton.

WEANED CALVES – A great entry of 377 weanlings were forward in Ring 4 with a massive crowd of regular and new buyers coming to take advantage of the large number of cattle. A great run of bulls from Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside sold for £1420, £1390 £1340 and £1310. Messrs Byers, Whitehills Farm, sold the top priced Limousin cross bullock for £1400. Messrs Dickinson, East Rackwood sold a Limousin cross heifer for £1180.
