Middleton In Teasdale Opening Show & Sale of Store Cattle

On Tuesday 17th of January Harrison and Hetherington conducted the opening show & sale in Middleton in Teasdale Market.

A show of 145 stores were presented to a huge ringside of buyers ensuring all classes of cattle were simply off the scale. However, before the sale the pre-sale show took place. This year the job was left to Mr Ken Whitehead, Richmond who awarded the champion rosette to the first prize steer from MW & E Dent, Wythes Hill, with the second prize steer from W & A Bainbridge, Laneside winning the reserve. Class 1 – Bullock

Onto the sale and trade was ferocious from start to finish. Top price of the day went to the champion steer two sold for £1500. The reserve went onto sell for £1400. Heifers topped at £1420 on two separate occasions from BR Lawson & Son, Buddle House & JE & AJ Mitchell, Parrick House A sale which saw steers average £1107.95 up £20 on the fortnight and heifers £1032.53 up £50 on the fortnight. A show of cattle was presented with cattle being aged 8/9 months old.
