STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 18^th January Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Store cattle.  Yet another great entry of 652 strong store cattle forward at Borderway Mart.  Trade remained exceptional throughout the sale as last weeks did to.  Top overall was a Limousin cross steer at £1980 from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle who sold 5 steers and heifers to average £1792.  British Blues crosses from Messrs Holliday & Graham, Bolton Wood, Wigton sold to £1950.  Charolais to £1690 from Messrs Slack, Cockleybank.  Aberdeen Angus to £1640 for two steers from Messrs Henderson, Quarry Park, Lockerbie.

Heifers seen a days top of £1820 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle.  Charolais to £1710 from Messrs Hiddleston, Newmains, Dumfries and British Blues to the same money from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown and Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank sold to £1590.

Black and white steers sold to £1460 twice, firstly for a Holstein Friesian from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and secondly by Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank for a Fleckvieh.  British Friesian from Messrs Harrington, Wellington Farm, Wigton sold to £1330 for two steers.

WEANED CALVES – Trade continues to rise for all types of cattle at Borderway. Bullocks top at £1540 for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Ward of Whinstonehill. Messrs Browell sold Limousin bullocks to £1300. Simmental bullocks top at £1140. Limousin heifers topped at £1280 twice from Pattinson, Bonshawside and Nixon of Hunters Hall. Bulls were also a tremendous trade topping at £1260 and £1210 from Messrs Pritchard. Fleckvieh bulls topped at £990 from Messrs Kincaid.
