Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale at £1892.80 was a 30 month 832kg Shorthorn Steer which made 227.5p/kg from Messrs Heron, Eastfield Farm, Warcop, with another steer weighing 816kg and making 223.5p/kg totalling £1823.76.

The five OTM shorthorn steers from this home sold to average £1635.66

Topping at 235.5p/kg was a Aberdeen Angus cow from Messrs Jenkinson, Whingill, Hartley.

Messrs Wearmouth, Martindale Farm sold a five year old British Blue cross cow to make 233.5p/kg.

A seven year old Holstein cow sold in our T.B. none tested section sold to make 178.5p/kg from Messrs Bainbridge, Bonnygate Farm, Soulby.

All classes continue to be a flyer and are in extreme demand with the sale ring realising premiums only achievable the live market.

An overall sale average of 189.26p/kg and £1353.33.
