Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 25th January Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with an entry of 380 forward.  A rip roaring trade was witnessed with a strong show of older calves meeting a simply sensational demand.  Topping the sale was a British Blue steer from R & S McKie, Stoneybrook selling for £570.  Heifers topped at £495 from regular customer Malcolm Bowe, Low Plains for a strong British Blue.  Aberdeen Angus calves topped at £480 from AJ & J A McKie, Wedholme.  Limousin topped at £450 for a strong bull calf from Messrs Graves, Priory Farm.   Strong dairy calves were an exceptional trade with M J Scott, Milton Farm selling Montbelairde calves for £390.  Fleckvieh calves topped at £250 from Messrs Dent, Bridge End Farm, Penrith.  It is clear that customers are travelling further from Scotland and North of England to take advantage of the trade here at Borderway.
