Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 25^th January Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of 608 Store cattle.  The trade witnessed ringside had to be seen to be believed with vendors struggling to hide their amazement and disbelief of their returns achieved for their entries.

The sale averaged a massive £1341.31 with bullocks levelling at £1366.32 and heifers at £1319.75.  Messrs Robinson Gelt Hall, Castle Carrock broke the £2000 barrier with a Beef Shorthorn bullock selling at £2080. Limousin x bullocks sold to £1800 twice from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Cotehill and Messs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna.  Dairy bullocks to £1550 for a Montbeliarde from Messrs Haston, Swordwellrigg, Annan.  Heifers peaked at £1800 for a fantastic Limousin from Messrs Batty, Flimby Hall, Maryport.  Native heifers sold to £1660 for Angus from Messrs Harper, West House, Dearham.
