STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 1^st February Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Store cattle.  An outstanding show of 608 good forward store cattle selling to an outstanding trade throughout seeing a day’s overall top of £2060 for a Beef Shorthorn cross steer for Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton who’s run of cattle also commanded the top overall average of £1777.50 for four steers.  Next best was a Limousin cross steer at £1820 from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan.  Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith to £1770. British Blue crosses to £1760 for Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle and to £1700 from Messsrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith.  Charolais to £1740 from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas and to £1710 twice from Messrs Kyle, Spoutbank, Carlisle and from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle. Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1670 from Claremont Properties, Penrith and to £1640 from Messrs Gott, Prospect House, Cockermouth.

Heifers sold to a top of £1880 from a Limousin cross from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna and 34 month old heifers to £1780 from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas.  British Blues to £1690 from Messrs Batty, Flimby Hall, Maryport.  Charolais to £1630 from Messrs Watret, Burnside, Annan and Aberdeen Angus to the same price from Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank, Brampton.

Black and whites to £1580 for Friesian steers from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton and to £1560 from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton.
