Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly sale of cast and OTM cattle when 60 head were forward.

Topping the sale at £2284.86 was a cast Friesian bull from Messrs Beck, Townfoot, Longdale.

Topping at 296.5p/kg was a Limousin cross cow from Messrs Mellin, Mill House Farm, Long Preston with this home also selling Limousin cross cows to make 294.5p/kg, 290.5p/kg and 264.5p/kg.

Cows topped at £2054.80 for a 10 year old British Blue cross cow weighing 880kg and making 233.5p/kg from Messrs Brown, Asby Hall, Great Asby.

Messrs Bland, Cotegill sold a five year old Limousin cross cow weighing 740kg to make 253.5p/kg totalling £1875.90.

Messrs Buckle, Bleathgill, Barras sold a 8 year old Limousin cross cow to make £1866.23.

Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall, Kendal sold a Limousin cow to make £1812.80 weighing 704kg and 257.5p/kg.

Dairy cows sold to £1464.93 and 184.5p/kg for a Friesian from Messrs Beck, Townfoot, Longdale.

Montbeliarde cows sold to 197.5p/kg and £1423.96 from Messrs Simpson, Knock Cross Farm, Appleby.

Beef shorthorn cows sold to £1426.94 and 195.5p/kg for a seven year old cow from Messrs Taylor, Low Howgill, Penrith.

Trade for all classes was truly off the clock with an overall sale average of 199.7p/kg and £1346.10 being achieved!
